Projection has been an integral part of my practice for over 20 years. I have predominantly utilised film projectors, Including OHP's, carousel slide projectors or cine-film projectors. The analogue approach to projection i.e the actual film entering the projector was always fascinated me.
Upon graduating in the late 90's this was as much a financial decision as an aesthetic one. Analogue projectors and film could be acquired inexpensively! Digital projection equipment was in it's infancy, bulky, expensive and in my opinion didn't come close to competing with the visceral impact of a film projection.
For the last five years I have worked almost exclusively with my Visio Projectors (developed by WeAreProjectors). The mobile hand-held nature of these projectors has enabled my use of film to continue in the present and the future as well as experimenting with a range of semi-transparent materials.
